The Alpha Course

Alpha offers an opportunity to explore some of the tougher questions of life and to learn more about the basics of Christianity.

Over 500 people have done Alpha at St Luke’s over the past 21 years.  We’ve just finished the adult course we ran in Autumn 2018 but are about to start a Monday tea-time Alpha Course aimed at young people.

Our next course for adults will be in September 2019, but if you can’t wait till then, we can point you towards courses running at other churches in West Bridgford, Wilford, central Nottingham, Aspley and Beeston.

Believing & Belonging

Believing & Belonging (B&B) is a weekly course that aims to link what Christians believe to how Christians grow in their sense of belonging in the church.

B&B is really practical and helps us work through how the core values of our church impact our daily lives. It’s suitable for anyone interested in understanding what St Luke’s is as a church and is an ideal follow-on to The Alpha Course.

B&B has three modules, reflecting the make up of our core values, each running on Thursdays from 7.30-9.30 pm at St Luke’s Church.

B&B1, looking at ‘Celebrating God’, runs from 31 January to 28 March 2019.

B&B2, looking at ‘Growing in Grace’, will follow from April to June 2019.

B&B3, looking at ‘Sharing Jesus’, is planned to run from September to November 2019.

If you’re interested in the B&B course, please email the course coordinators David and Janet Brydon by clicking here.

Faith Pictures

Faith Pictures is a short course designed to help Christians talk naturally to friends, neighbours and colleagues about what they believe. The heart of the course is about helping people to identify a single picture or image that embodies something of their faith. This is because the kinds of communication which best stick in the mind are concrete and rooted in story.

The course aims to be accessible and light-hearted, without jargon or inflexible methods. It has a number of emphases not always found in faith-sharing courses. These include the avoidance of one-size-fits-all models and the importance of honesty and listening. Each session contains a short video and encourages discussion in pairs and as a whole group.

The next course will start at St Luke’s on 13th June 2019 at 7pm, and will run for 5 weeks.

The CAP Money Course

The CAP Money Course is a widely acclaimed course that teaches practical budgeting and money management skills.

Whether you feel pretty organised with your money or whether you struggle with debt, the CAP Money Course will help you take complete control of your finances.

This course runs over three evenings and is repeated several times a year.
