Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation.
This term, we’re running Alpha on Wednesday evenings online. Everyone’s welcome but you will need access to a PC, laptop or other device with audio and video that can run Zoom.
How does Alpha Work?
The Alpha Course runs for eight Wednesday evenings from 7:45 pm to 9:15 pm. Each week includes a talk from the Alpha Film Series and a discussion time where you can share your thoughts.
TALKS – The talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. Usually around thirty minutes long, they explore the big issues around faith, unpacking the basics of Christianity, and addressing questions such as Who is Jesus? and How can we have faith? and Why and how do I pray? and How does God guide us?
DISCUSSION – Probably the most important part of any Alpha: the chance to share thoughts and ideas on that night’s topic, and discuss it on Zoom in a small group. There’s no obligation to say anything and there’s nothing you can’t say. It’s an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly and open environment.
Who is Alpha for?
Everyone! Alpha is for anyone who wants to explore questions of life, faith and meaning. It’s open to the cynics, the sceptics, the curious, the unsettled, the anxious, the lonely, the gregarious, the open-minded. To beginners and returners. To those who’ve heard about Alpha but would have felt awkward about turning up in person, but can now dip in from home to see what it’s all about. More here
